Did you know infants can see high-contrast black and white patterns from the day they're born? The variety of simple and complex patterns in our Native Hawaiian birds card set are perfect for little ones to focus on and examine. As they get older, children can use these cards to identify a few of Hawai'i's native birds. When they eventually see them outdoors, we hope they’ll recognize the shapes from their card set!

This set of five 5x7 inch cards come on thick, glossy cardstock that is easy to hold or mount. They fit perfectly in a standard picture frame or commercial Montessori card holders. Cards are double sided with the inverse image printed on the back. They can be shown like flash cards or put around the room at baby's eye level. Each pattern was drawn by Alisa and printed by our local print shop. Card sets come in an envelope for easy storage.

This card set features the 'iwa, 'alae 'ula, nēnē, and 'aeo. The 'aeo, or Hawaiian stilt, is an endangered wetland bird that is indigenous to Hawai'i. The nēnē, or Hawaiian goose, is an endangered bird that is endemic to Hawai'i,. Endemic means and nowhere else that it occurs naturally only in Hawai'i. The nēnē is the Hawai'i state bird. The 'alae 'ula, or Hawaiian moorhen, is an endagered wetland bird that is indigenous to Hawai'i. The 'iwa, or great frigatebird, is a seabird commonly seen in the Hawaiian sky and is indigenous to Hawai'i.
